Within 5 hectares, we rehabilitate animals in order to reintroduce them in their natural habitats, we care for more than 400 animals that can't be released and we carry out environmental activities with visitors, focused on conservation and the perils of illegal wildlife trafficking
In favour of wildlife conservation, we receive visitors from 8:30h to 15:30h every day of the year.
You need to make a reservation over:
The main phone: (+5936) 3017717
Or E-Mail: firstname.lastname@example.org
Visits are about 1h and every group receives a person who guides visitors through the center.
Each visitor supports the maintenance of the center and its animals with an economic contribution that goes from $4 to whatever is desired.
We receive donations physically at the center, as well by Paypal.
Unfortunately, there are many animals that can not be reintroduced into their natural habitats for various reasons.
These are the animals that you'll see in here and they are macaws, parrots, yaguarundis, ocelots, coatis, toucans, turtles, different species of monkeys, among others.
They have no choice but to be here, so we give them the best care and we make sure to spread the message against wildlife trafficking so that no one else ends up in a cage.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING?
We recomend you to bring rubber boots or sneakers (when it's raining, there is mud), waterproof jacket in case it rains, a camera, mosquito repellent and do not forget your mask!
Apart from this, we recomend you to bring some money because we have a lot of beautiful indigenous handcrafts and some donation boxes in case you want to support us a little bit more.
As AmaZOOnico is 100% non-profit, all money collected goes directly to caring for the animals and general maintenance of the center. Additionally, Amazoonico receives no funding support from the government of Ecuador or corporate sources, our only means of funding is through visitor economic contributions and private donations.
HOW DO YOU GET HERE?
TENA- AMAZOONICO: Bus + canoe
In Tena, find one of the bus terminals ¨Jumandy¨ or ¨Centinela del Tena¨. Take a bus to ¨Puerto Barantilla¨($2.40/1:30h). At Puerto Barantilla wait for a motor canoe and ask the driver to take you to Amazoonico (10min). The frequency and cost of the canoe rides varies a lot, so we recommend you to order before a canoe by calling Liana Lodge: (+593) 6 301 7702
MISAHUALLI - AMAZOONICO: Canoe
If you want to enjoy a canoe trip, you can come to Amazoonico from Misahualli in canoe. We recommend you to call Carlos Santander at (+593) 98 452 5436. For $25/person (minimum 5 paxs) he will bring you to our animal rescue center and after the visit, he will bring you back to the city.

For the security and welfare of all (humans and animals) these are our rules. Visitors who fail to adhere to these rules may be asked to leave the center. Thanks for the understanding.
Don't interact with animals (either they're in enclosures or free living) by means of physical contact or verbal communication. Human interaction stresses the non-releaseable ones, makes less releaseable the ones which can be reintroduced and can mean the transmission of dangerous diseases for all.
Don't feed the animals.
Don't bring pets to the center, either in the shop.
Stay walking paths and together with your group al all times and don't enter restricted areas of the center.
All photos must be taken without flash.
Don't smoke in any part of the center.
Please note that visitors wishing to take images or video with professional equipment will be charged an additional $500
