Volunteering at amaZOOnico is a truly special and life-enriching experience. The work is hard, but incredibly rewarding; our volunteers are essential for us to operate, and you will see from day one how your input is truly making a difference to us and the animals. You will also have lots of fun with like-minded people along the way!

Life as an amaZOOnico volunteer


  • Help with the daily work of caring for the animals - feeding, cleaning, enrichments

  • Learn about wildlife management and support conservation hands-on

  • Work hard and make new friends with volunteers from all over the world

  • Deliver environmental education through guided tours of the center

  • Experience life in the jungle!

Requirements

  • Minimum 18 years old

  • Minimum commitment of 4 weeks (the longer you stay, the less you pay!)

  • Cover food and lodging expenses (maximum of $399 per 4 weeks non-refundable / $249 for Ecuadorians. This includes a free amaZOOnico t-shirt)

  • Passion for wildlife conservation

  • Professional attitude

  • Ability to perform strenuous activities in hot, humid rainforest conditions

  • Comfort residing in a remote tropical location, with limited communication

  • Comfort working and communicating in a multicultural context

  • Fluent English or Spanish

Other tasks might be assigned according to the skills of the volunteers:
Graphic design, welding, public speaking, painting, repairing materials, good writing, etc.

Steps to become an amaZOOnico volunteer:

  1. Fill in the application form above.
    We will get back to you within a week.

  2. If your application is accepted, you will then need to make the volunteer fee payment to reserve your spot.

  3. Come, help, and enjoy !

Program Fees

The program fee covers your food and lodging expenses. The minimum stay is 4 weeks. We offer a discount of $10 per week for week 5 to 8 and $20 per week for week 9+.
